Issue des collections de l’Université Rennes 1, une sélection d’instruments d’optique ayant contribué à l’étude de la polarisation lumineuse, ainsi que de spécimens d’animaux naturalisés ayant potentiellement la capacité de la percevoir, a fait l’objet d’un tournage et de prises de vue en studio. Les deux vidéos réalisées à cette occasion sont projetées en vis-à-vis en relief stéréoscopique rendu visible par un procédé optique reposant sur la polarisation.
Les clairvoyants réunit et confronte des instruments scientifiques et des animaux naturalisés dans une scène de nature morte animée d’un mouvement circulaire, dans une boucle sans fin.
Les renversants donne à voir l’aspect très particulier que prennent ces mêmes éléments, lorsque la lumière polarisée qu’ils renvoient est analysée et extrapolée en trois dimensions, faisant basculer notre perception de la lecture d’une image plane à celle d’un paysage inédit
From the collections of the University of Rennes 1, a selection of optical instruments that have contributed to the study of light polarization, as well as stuffed animal specimens potentially capable of perceiving it, have been the subject of a studio shoot. The two videos produced on this occasion are projected opposite each other in stereoscopic relief made visible by an optical process based on polarization.
Les renversants presents the very particular aspect that these same elements take on, when the polarized light they reflect is analyzed and extrapolated in three dimensions, shifting our perception of reading a flat image to that of a new landscape.
Les clairvoyants brings together and confronts scientific instruments and stuffed animals in a still life scene animated by a circular movement, in an endless loop.
